There's still so many people in the dust and eve community that complain about every change that happens in the game, hell I did my share of whining like back when they came out with ferro and reactive plates, but at some point everyone knows you just need to shut up and try to make it work, adapt or quit. The sad thing I've seen a few people quit, not many, but more than enough. Rather than accept the challenge ahead of them and walk through the newly fueled fire they turn their back on everything they put into the game and cut off all ties, curse the heavens, pray for the game's demise, etc.
I simply don't understand it, I get a new player coming in and seeing the chaos and trials that lie ahead of them, it would seem only masochists would put themselves through this just to be able to function sometimes in this frustrating and wonderful environment; However the players who have invested their time and money, who have made friends and rivals and possibly made the game a little personal, what is their excuse? Their suit won't be as effective as last time and their playstyle and strategy may need to be reworked? Is that really any attitude to take when facing a new obstacle? A "f*** having to work and trying new things" attitude?
Say what you will about the game but the constant changes and fluctuations are proof that the game is alive, it may change direction or hit rough areas but it's still moving. For whatever reason there are still people who don't want to adapt to these changes, who don't want to travel with them and instead try to hold on to their old ways, an endeavor which is about as easy as trying to bend a river with a stick, and they end up getting frustrated and hurt, not because some part of the game didn't go their way but because they couldn't overcome their own selfishness and fantasies to see that this game only works for people who accept these hardships as inevitable, that it only favors the persistent and the passionate. It's hard to see these people struggle, and some quit, just because they refuse to let go of old ideas.
This is not an error on the part of the developers, they're making something truly unique, maybe not refined yet, but still different, I hope you players will stick around for the ride. |

I ignore most of the forum whining because what else can be done about it? But the fact remains that there's still so much of it that people can generally assume if they go on the forums there's going to be QQ on the first page of any section, much rather see people making constructive arguments or being supportive, get enough of those and maybe some actual improvements can be made.
fiend I've had my fits torn up a bit, but at some point I just sat down and tried to find a way to make them better than they were before or at least functional. Hell I finally settled down on a weapon and if they told me the smg would be nerfed in 1.7 and we're not getting a respec, what more can be said besides "oh well"? Sure I could fight them on it, come up with math and a bunch of other reasons why it shouldn't just because I want to keep using it, but if it happens there's little more I can do other than move on and try my hand at other guns.
and as for cosgar I plan to max out shield recharging and regulation, and I probably won't get to it until after 1.7. Trying to max out everything in dropsuit upgrades and i guess my logic for that was that the only way to be safe from heavy changes would be to be good at everything, have a good foundation. Still will fall victim if they decide to make changes to weapons or suits but again, what can ya do besides say "oh well"?
I don't think we should keep silent on everything, if there's actually something in the game that's just fundamentally wrong then speak out but like with me I really only have any significant investment in smgs for weapons, I understand that that's shifty ground, that it's frail to be only good at 1 thing, and if that one thing changes I'm ******, but I've accepted this. |

Dunno about you guys but I still get on regularly even if it's just to screw around with friends, not torturing myself hoping it will get better, I know they're gonna come out with new **** and tweak old **** eventually and it can't hurt to be prepared for that, but really I've been playing to have fun, and when it stops being fun I stop playing for the day. I don't know about people doing other things because they're bored, I just know that people quit because the same old crap doesn't work anymore, those are the people that annoy me. |

It's just being an elitist *******, also the fact that alot of the players who have gotten to the point where they're bored and have 2 or 3 specializations have been here since the beginning and haven't really seen the other side of proto stomping. How many of them do you expect to think about what newer players are going through? But these are also people who are fanatical about the gameto the point where they basically play every day because all they care about is their KDR or their wins. It would be great if these people who probably have alot of knowledge about the weapons and strategies that work in the game would speak out but if it works for them why would they change it? Why make it fair when you know the trick for an easy win?
Every online game is going to have this kind of community and I don't think it's going to lead to the point where the customization drops out and only a few guns can function and it is basically call of duty, if the game stagnates it's time for a change and a pretty decent one is coming soon. But even if you have 30 million sp sometimes you can be made to feel like a noob, each match has some form of unpredictability in this way. |

Don't say they want it that way. If so, they would not have tried to do what they have to increase player base and revenue. From releasing a boxed store addition of EVE to DUST to future plans for other games, CCP wants and needs more customers. They won't get them the way they're going. Definitely a good point, and it seems like what they're doing right now is fixing the game to at least make it welcoming to new players before they basically try to advertise to these new people, but they want to do it without putting an "easy mode" button on it. I don't know how they plan to get the audience they want while not driving away the one they have, and it's not their fault if people do leave because right now everyone knows the game is unforgiving to new players, and if CCP wants to fix that they're probably going to **** off some vets, the important thing is that they stick around and realize that these changes will screw with them but that it's necessary. |

It's simple, if the game is going to survive the long run then it probably needs more people, and if it needs people those people have to want to play and keep playing, and if that's going to happen they can't be having their ass kicked with no hope of victory, and if we're going to make the game fair to them then the vets need to sacrifice something, they cannot be invincible or they need to do it elsewhere. |

I've always liked the matchmaking that was involved with metal gear online, in that there was no matchmaking, people just made rooms and you could go and join whichever one you wanted, know what you were getting into, you could stay as long as you wanted and you didn't need to fight different people at the end of every match, giving players some control over who they fight might cut down on proto stomping a bit and give tough guys the challenge they want, people could go in as a team, would allow corp battles, and new guys would be able to fight other new guys and constantly try to 1 up each other, maybe learn more about the game without getting completely destroyed. Might also cut back on the surprise and the unpredictability of some matches and idk how they could work this in but I feel like something like that might help, as well as if they disincentivize high leveled players from kicking the asses of low leveled players because right now, win or lose, proto or militia, you generally get the same amount of money, salvage, sp, and alot of that stuff doesn't concerned the vets so why not buff their stats and go hard? |
